Hacibekir Turkish Delight

Confectioner Hadji Bekir came to Istanbul from the Kastamonu district and opened a small candy store in Bahçekapı district in 1777. Confectioner Hacı Bekir Efendi, who started to manufacture and sell confectionery personally and later became known as Hacı Bekir after performing his pilgrimage between 1817-1820, has a history that travels through four different centuries and five continents.


Honey molasses as Turkey 16 in the production of confectionery sweetener century, water binder, was used as tissue builder. Early 19th century, the sugar produced in refineries established in Europe, in those days the name "Keller sugar" as the arrival of Turkey, Haci Bekir, dissolving beat in the sugar mortar, rose, cinnamon, chewing gum, in different flavors and colors of orange lemon addition conviction started to produce.
